Congressman Paul D. Tonko will visit Guilderland Public Library on Wednesday, February 19th at 10:00 AM to donate materials from the Library of Congress Surplus Books Program. The Congressman has facilitated donations to local schools and non-profits through this program since September of 2017. In that time, he has visited more than 50 locations and delivered more than 1640 books valued at over $35,900.
The Library of Congress receives more than 20,000 items every day and only half of those materials remain in the Library’s permanent collection. The remainder of these items are allocated to the Surplus Book Program available to Members of Congress to retrieve and donate. Guilderland Public Library requested materials focused on sports, health and wellness. Congressman Tonko will discuss the Library of Congress Surplus Books Program and then take questions.
