|Feeling Stuck? Write: Journaling as a Self-Care Tool|
Event Type: ADULT PROGRAM - REGISTERED|
Start Time: 9:30 AM
End Time: 11:00 AM
When faced with stress, people turn to things like yoga, running, baths, therapy or even wine. But we donít often see people turn to writing unless itís a talent for them. Research shows that writing can be as beneficial to people health wise as regular exercise, a healthy diet and talk therapy.
Writing classes always seem to be either required -- for school, or for people who want to write for a living. Thatís like making a spin class only for people who are aiming for the Tour de France.
Writing doesnít require any fancy equipment or big investments. It doesnít take much time and you donít have to be physically fit or have a special talent to do it. It is a skill that is accessible to everyone.
Our goal with this class is to ultimately help you to establish a regular journaling routine, something you can to turn to when you need it, whether it's because you're feeling stuck now or because you want to develop tools for the future. And there will be a healthy dose of research as we move through concepts to show you why writing is valuable for self-care.
The series is led by Sara Kennedy, Assistant Professor of English, Foreign Languages and ESL, at Hudson Valley Community College.
Space is limited, and participants are asked to attend all three classes. Snow dates will be the following Sundays, from 1-2:30 pm.
